Lol, keep critizing the armor design you guys. I'm having fun looking at those comments. Yep, I like to draw useless armors. And do you think your comments here gonna make me stop drawing this kind of useless armor design?
ART. THIS STUFF IS SUPPOSED TO BE ART. UNLESS THE CHARACTER IS PART OF A FULL BLOWN STORY THAT HAS HER GET INTO TWENTY FIGHTS WITHOUT A SCRATCH (AND PROBABALY NOT EVEN THEN) IT DOESNT FREAKING MATTER. ARTISTIC FLAIR CAN BE IN FANSERVICE OR ANYTHING. ART IS NOT PRACTICAL. ART WILL ALMOST NEVER BE PRACTICAL. DEAL WITH IT.
I kinda get the under dressed armor complaint when it comes to a series, shows, or games but I think its more of a pinup girl kind of drawing so the under dressed part makes since and is fine with me. Great drawing btw super sexy.
The armor is great, (not very usefull but anyway...) and the proportions are good ._., as you said, this is manga, not human anatomy my friends. Your artworck is fucking great, and the armor is hilarious, sorry if I wrote something wrong, I'm from Argentina
oh, forget the armor, her anatomy is way off... the navel is like 20cm lower than humans have it, her hands are short for a torso of that length (if she was standing straight, it would be more obvious, but it is there) and also either her skull is way too big, or the face is too small. all the common mistakes people hit at their art college's first year. I'm sorry to say you should be more reading on human anatomy for artists and drawing more sketches of naked models to get the grip on how human body works, than having fun looking at comments criticizing her weird armor...
did you even understood yourself what you said? manga is a style of drawing, it depicts a stylised versions of humans or animals.
that does not mean that basic principles of correct anatomy should be violated. otherwise, why do all manga characters have a head with two eyes, two hands, two legs? why not draw hands instead of legs then?
Look, you're an artist who clearly has talent, but the rampant objectification of women in things like this is a problem that affects every single woman on earth today. Sure, it's a fantasy piece, not based on a real woman, even, and inspired by a comic book character- but reducing women into an idea like this is a problem. Iron Man is not designed with sexiness in mind, so there is no reason why a female version of the character would be either. It'd be different if there was a male character designed for sexiness (I don't know, Namor maybe?) but it's already so difficult to think of a male character made simply for sexuality's sake, when on the other hand, there are hundreds of female characters designed simply for straight dudes to ogle. You can defend your art all you want- no one is insulting your skills, in fact the lighting and textures are pretty off the hook- but your approach to women. It may be a fantasy, but when women are consistently- and not just by you- reduced to sex objects instead of valid characters- especially when they are female take offs of valid *male* characters- it sends a message, across the board, that says "women are worth less than men". Period.
And no, simply saying, "if you don't like it don't look" doesn't work. This kind of stuff is EVERYWHERE, and since the rendering of this made front page, it was kind of in my face. It's just that this design us particularly gratuitous and your reception of criticism on this subject reflects a deeply disturbing lack of understanding of why people get upset by this. It's not about you. It's so much bigger than that.
Because yes, these images affects us women- I speak from experience. And they affect men too. If people are consistently fed images that say women have no value- or that they are worth less than men- or that they only have value proportional to their appearance- then things like sexual assaults, eating disorders, and just plain old fashioned sexism- are perpetuated. Don't feed the animal, dude. You've got talent. Use it for something good.
They are for commenting of course. Most commonly used for compliments, and questions. However I don't see anywhere in the description asking for a critique. That's all I'm not going to argue with you, so I am not replying to any further reply.
THANK YOU. While I love this type of armor designs, people should learn to live and let live. Not accuse someone of being a sexist because they drew something unrealistic More people like you should exist.
Aw thanks! x) Still, Im pretty sure the artist never asked to be accused of sexist. In my opinion this is unrealistic and as a lady myself I hate seeing "sexy" pictures of women, but I have no right whatsoever to accuse their art of "sexist". Art is made with creativity, not melancholy.
I'm appalled that anyone one would expect any less sexiness in your designs, and that anyone would think that you'd would go for practicality instead of perversion. Also for all of the people criticizing the armor, i don't think it was made to be protective/battle-proof/or even to work, it isn't even used in some kind of a fight illustration so that you can say its impractical. It was probably made for one purpose, and that's to be sexy. And damn if it isn't sexy as hell. So shut
