I agree. What I was pointing out in his work was the coloring, yes. The way he makes the character's fall over to the category of 3D while still retaining a manga-ish flavor to it is what I aim for. Usually, anime/manga artworks are done by cel-shading or soft-cel shading. It is rare to see someone do a Semi-realistic style approach to manga linearts. Basically, I want to learn or better yet, master the semi-realistic approach on an anime character.
it's important to have an idea of the whole image u wanna depict before actually drawing it. Finish the character first and then do the background can make u suffer a how to fit the char and background kinda difficulty.
